What exactly are impact windows?
Impact windows are engineered with reinforced frames and laminated glass — two panes bonded by a tough interlayer — designed to withstand hurricane-force winds and flying debris. Even if the outer glass cracks, the interlayer holds everything in place, preventing the window from breaching. In South Florida, they’re more than a good idea — they’re often required by code and represent the most permanent form of storm protection.
Are impact windows required in South Florida?
Florida’s building code requires all exterior openings in new construction to be protected against hurricane-force winds and debris. In Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties, this typically means impact-rated windows or an approved alternative like storm shutters. Do your windows meet Miami-Dade building code?
Yes. The majority of our installations meet Miami-Dade County Notice of Acceptance (NOA) standards — among the most rigorous impact-resistance certifications in the country. Our products are tested against high-velocity airborne projectiles that simulate hurricane conditions. All work is fully permitted and inspectable.
REBATES, GRANTS & FINANCING
Are there government rebates for impact windows in Florida?
Yes — and they’re significant. The My Safe Florida Home Program provides state-funded matching grants of up to $10,000 for eligible hurricane protection upgrades, including impact windows. For every $1 you spend, the state contributes $2. Low-income homeowners may qualify for the full $10,000 without the matching requirement.
For the 2025–2026 fiscal year, Florida allocated $280 million to this program. Homeowners in Palm Beach County, Broward County, and Miami-Dade County should apply early — funding is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

HURRICANE SEASON & WINDOW PREPARATION
When is the best time to prepare my windows for hurricane season?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Here’s a smart seasonal approach:
- January–April: Best time to plan and install. Lead times are shorter and schedules are more flexible.
- April–May: If you haven’t started, now is urgent. Schedule your estimate before the season begins.

What do I need to do before a hurricane if I have impact windows?
If your impact windows are properly installed and permitted — simply close and latch them securely. No shutters, no plywood, no tape required. That’s one of the biggest advantages of impact windows. My impact window cracked after a storm — what should I do?

How long does impact window installation take?
